We're continuing to invest heavily in building the best creator platform with the best team in the creator economy and are looking for a Engineering Manager - Platform to support our mission.

This role is based in San Francisco and open to those who are able to be in-office 2 days per week on a hybrid work model.  

                                     

About the Role

  • Team Leadership: You'll lead a team of backend and platform engineers focused on building scalable infrastructure, improving developer experience, and driving operational excellence across Patreon’s engineering org.

  • Technical Strategy & Execution: You'll define and deliver on a platform roadmap that balances immediate reliability needs with long-term architectural investments.

  • Collaboration at Scale: You'll work closely with product teams, infrastructure, and cross-functional partners to ensure our backend systems are performant, observable, and developer-friendly.

  • Culture & Growth: You'll be responsible for mentoring engineers, fostering a healthy team culture, and helping grow the next generation of technical leaders at Patreon.

  • Mission-Driven Impact: Your work will directly support the creators who rely on Patreon by ensuring our platform is stable, fast, and built to scale with their ambitions.

  • Participate in company-wide hiring activities such as recruiting, interviewing, and closing top candidates.

About You

  • You’re a systems thinker who enjoys solving foundational engineering problems that create leverage for other teams — from infrastructure reliability to developer workflows.

  • You lead with empathy and clarity, balancing technical depth with people-first leadership. You care about growing engineers and building strong, inclusive teams.

  • You’re comfortable in complexity, whether it’s aligning across functions, wrangling legacy systems, or driving clarity in ambiguous situations.

  • You care deeply about quality and velocity, and you’re motivated by building tools and platforms that make engineering teams faster, safer, and happier.

  • You believe in Patreon’s mission, and you’re excited to build technology that supports creative independence and helps creators thrive.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent

Patreon operates under a hybrid work model, where employees based in office locations are expected to come into the office two days per week, excluding sick time and paid leave. Candidates outside of our office hubs are not expected to meet the same requirements.

At Patreon, we believe in fair and transparent pay. In compliance with New York and California pay transparency laws, we are sharing the expected salary range for this role.

The posted salary range is dependent on the location and the level. This range may encompass multiple levels within the role’s job family. The final offer will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, competencies, and geographic location, aligning with the appropriate job level within Patreon’s leveling framework. For remote employees located outside CA and NY, salary may vary based on location and local market conditions.
