About the Role:  

The Accounting team at Planet is seeking an AP Accountant. This role requires excellent organization and communication skills.  A successful candidate will be a self-starter, pays strong attention to detail, and embraces challenges as opportunities for success as the company expands and grows. In this role, you will be responsible for accounts payable operations, employee corporate card reports, as well as managing AP function related month-end close activities.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Responsible for full cycle of accounts payable process, which includes but not limited to:
    • Own vendor and internal communications related to AP functions
    • Perform two-way or three-way receipt match
    • Record invoices with accuracy, and consistency;  ensure GL coding is supported with proper documentation and approval
    • Review invoice status and follow up on overdue invoices and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Responsible for processing weekly batch payments, including wires, ACH, and checks
  • Review and reconcile monthly corporate credit card expense reports to credit card statements and prepare corresponding journal entries on a monthly basis
  • Review employee experience reports and ensure they have the proper supporting documentation
  • Manage month-end close activities including:
    • Review POs to ensure GL coding accuracy and consistency
    • Assist with period closing activities related to AP functions, including booking journal entries and reconciliation
  • Prepare and issue annual 1099s
  • Prepare and file CA use tax and SF environment tax
  • Assist with compiling and preparing support required for annual audits as they relate to AP functions
  • Support ad hoc projects as needed
  • Recommend changes and assist in driving improvements on AP accounting processes, documentation, procedures and automation

What You Bring:

  • A high degree of ownership over projects and results
  • Ability to meet deadlines, and follow through on tasks
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and data integrity; excellent reconciliation skills
  • Team-oriented mindset and a desire to continuously learn and improve
  • Proficient computer skills particularly with Excel
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or other quantitative major
  • 2 - 3 years of accounting experience, with 1 - 2 years focused on accounts payable

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $49,500 - $91,000. This role is eligible for equity.

The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, and other business considerations.

Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
