What is special about this role:

As the Billing Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our reimbursement and billing operations for current and future lines of business. In this role, you will work with patients, payers, and internal stakeholders to ensure Helix receives timely and appropriate payment for our diagnostic services. This position will work cross-functionally with internal partners, such as finance and customer service, to ensure coordination of payor and patient billing. The candidate will partner with the Billing and Reimbursement Manager to perform key business analytics to drive decisions that will impact the success of Helix.

 

As a Billing Specialist, you will:

  • Assist with the operations for medical claims management, including claim follow-up and the appeal process.
  • Assist with letters of medical necessity, formulating appropriate arguments to challenge denials.
  • Gather data, conduct analyses, and create reports demonstrating collection trends.
  • Facilitate and help drive closure throughout the insurance appeals process.
  • Develop the necessary processes and policies to improve the efficiency of our billing and reimbursement operations.
  • Work closely with our testing partners to manage the end-to-end process, including eligibility verification and prior authorization.
  • Keep up-to-date on changes in the COVID-19 and genetic testing reimbursement landscape, including pricing, prior authorization requirements, and any legislation that may impact our day-to-day operations.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on all things reimbursement-related for cross-functional teams, including commercial, product, and finance.
  • Work closely with the finance team to monitor and manage the end-to-end revenue process for revenue generated from health plans.

 

About you:

  • An experienced process manager in the healthcare or life science industry. Preference will be given to candidates who have more than 3 years of revenue cycle management experience and/or knowledge about the medical billing process involving payor structures and guidelines surrounding claim submissions.
  • Highly capable of identifying and resolving claim rejections, denial and appeal requirements and are able to understand ERAs/EOBs 
  • An experience working with commercial and government payers 
  • You are known to be a great communicator and collaborator with both internal and external partners and can work closely with other groups to solve issues.
  • Regularly seek out learning opportunities via webinars/books/courses/presentations which you creatively share with your team to enhance individuals’ performance.
  • You enjoy leveraging tools such as MS Excel and billing software to investigate and perform analysis to effectively drive business decisions, including process improvements for the team.
  • You have experience managing the relationship with external billing / RCM vendor.
