The Role: 

We are looking for a dedicated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who combines executive leadership experience and functional expertise in the Digital Advertising, SaaS, and/or Travel verticals. You will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and contribute to Sojern’s financial planning, accounting, capital accumulation and allocation, and KPI reporting. In addition, you will advise across the functional organizations to implement process improvements which optimize efficiency, scalability, and productivity. You will partner with the CEO on board management, investor relations, and fundraising activities. 

As a dedicated hands-on leader you will work tirelessly to ensure that your team is focused and aligned with the company’s growth targets. As the CFO, you will be an experienced and inspiring leader with excellent people skills, business acumen, and an exemplary work ethic. The ideal candidate will have a long history of supporting global scale, high growth, and profitability. This role reports to the CEO and is based in San Francisco, CA. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Create a smart and well-integrated financial roadmap for company growth and success 

  • Strategic partnering, including: capital structure optimization; fundraising, investor relations and long-term planning; pricing/product strategy; and M&A 

  • Establish core financial processes and trusted reporting requirements 

  • Create accountability within the company by developing appropriate performance metrics and expectations for the finance and accounting teams 

  • Monitor and review all Sojern financial and accounting systems and programs for operational integrity 

  • Provide expert counsel to the CEO and Board of Directors 

  • Develop world-class finance team with global coverage to support company growth through systems, processes and technical skills 

  • Conduct short-term operational and long-term strategic financial planning, including capital structure management and evaluation 

  • Work with leadership of each department to establish internal controls, policies and procedures, culminating with the periodic preparation of financial statements prepared in conformance with generally accepted accounting principles 

  • Oversee and develop forecasts, cash flow projections and other internal management reports 

  • Oversee cash management and short-term investments 

  • Ensure that the company maximizes cash flow and return on investment through improved operating performance, and prudent capital investments, including acquisitions 

  • Consistently support management team to achieve budget, revenue and EBITDA goals 

  • Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives 

  • Monitor and direct the implementation of global entity structure 

  • Manage the annual operating planning and budgeting processes 

  • Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction 

  • Oversee the issuance of financial information, both internally and to external stakeholders 

  • Maintain “hands-on” work style with key financial data 

  • Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile 

  • Construct and monitor reliable control systems 

  • Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory financial reporting requirements 

  • Ensure that audit planning is planned and accomplished within annual timing requirements 

  • Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations 

  • Foster a world class customer-first focused organization

  • The VP, F&A and the Controller report to the CFO, with a supporting team of 20+ 

  • International travel required 

What you bring to the table:

  • 20 years + experience leading global financial operations in one or more of the following verticals: Digital Advertising, SaaS, Travel. 

  • Experience as a CFO of a high-growth company that has scaled to $250M+ while maintaining 20%+ CAGR 

    • B2B SaaS experience preferred 

  • Success serving as a key member of the senior executive team in providing input to the CEO, investors, and management regarding the financial implications of all major business decisions, as well as strategic objectives 

  • Exceptional financial management, analytical, reporting, problem-solving, negotiation, and organizational skills 

  • Strategic thinker who possesses exceptional interpersonal skills needed to effectively share and engage the entire organization in the key financial drivers of the company 

  • Strong business acumen – working knowledge of sales strategy and sales operations, and an ability to think through the model, strategy, and customer acquisition costs 

  • Ability to initiate and drive change and have the flexibility to adapt to a dynamic, growing environment 

  • Corporate governance experience 

  • Experience with transfer pricing, international tax, and inter-company transactions 

  • Demonstrated experience exiting companies with a high-value return for all stakeholders 

  • Strong breadth of skills across Accounting, FP&A, M&A, Tax, Legal, Facilities and Negotiations. 

  • Proven ability to plan, budget, model, and forecast with accurate to know at all times where the company is in relation to internal and external models/targets for the current and successive years 

  • Exceptional people management skills; passionate about achieving team success; able to inspire and motivate the team 

  • Highly collaborative with a track record of building strong internal and external relationships 

  • Sales operations, contract management, and procurement process management 

  • Cognizant of business cultural differences and norms across the globe; able to adapt style and approach to local business cultures 

  • Track record of hiring, growing and retaining "A" players 

  • High integrity and ethics; style and behavior align with our core values (including, but not only, customer success, excellence, trust, courage, innovation, teamwork, accountability, authenticity, balance, and diversity) 

  • Thrive in the use of data to drive decisions 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred (active or inactive status)
