Controller
We are looking for a finance leader to lead all day-to-day finance operations including functional responsibility for accounting, internal controls, and transaction processing functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The Controller would ensure consistent, accurate, and concise financial reporting for the internal and external stakeholders. The Controller will support the Global VP Corporate Controller and will ensure consistent, accurate, and concise financial reporting for the internal and external stakeholders.
Role And Responsibilities:
Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions
Responsible for the Company’s monthly, quarterly, and year-end close process and management reporting of results, variances, operating metrics, and other analyses
Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards
Work to continuously improve/evolve internal controls, policies, and infrastructure in an effort to scale the business; lead the company’s SOX readiness program from a process and systems perspective.
Support the development of accounting policies in collaboration with technical accounting directors and ensure the appropriate application of those policies to the Company's business activities
Manage the resolution of complex accounting issues in collaboration with technical accounting resources by providing inputs and reviewing accounting memos detailing significant transactions/practices
Establish strong relationships with intra-company peers and be the "go to" accounting source in the Company
Lead annual financial audits and quarterly balance sheet and financial reviews, build strong auditor relationships, and partner internally to support operational and compliance programs
Oversee regulatory reporting, including specific tax and compliance reporting need by tax teams across various jurisdictions
Provide support for the annual budgeting and planning process; work with FP&A team on monthly forecast against budget and organizational cash flow forecasting
Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff globally to scale the accounting function to support Freshwork’s growth
Perform ad hoc financial analysis
Required Qualifications, Skills And Experience:
CPA or equivalent with 15+ years of relevant experience, including Big 4 public accounting experience and accounting leadership roles in a global environment.
Detail-oriented and able to handle large quantities of data.
Strong financial foundation, with in-depth knowledge of general ledger, month-end close processes, and U.S. GAAP
Deep audit experience, having worked on all three financial statements, preferably at a Big 4 consulting firm
Proven experience focus on streamlining accounting processes across payroll, procure to pay, revenue accounting, general ledger close, tax reporting and financial reporting
Exemplary history of financial project management
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
Experience with technical accounting areas such as revenue recognition ASC 606, stock based compensation expense, capitalized internal software development, debt/ equity transactions
Strong experience working with ERP systems (Netsuite is a strong plus )
Proven record of mentoring and developing talents in a global environment
High emotional intelligence, ability to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels within and outside of finance.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, clear and precise in communication, tailor communication to the audience.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines.
