Job Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for managing a diverse range of accounting, finance and compliance teams for Branch’s parent company in the US, and will have accounting oversight and responsibilities with Branch’s subsidiaries. This role will be located in San Francisco, CA and reporting to the Head of Financial Analytics. Direct reports would include US accountants and International accountants. You will help Branch scale and automate its financial close and processes while establishing an environment of effective controls.

Responsibilities: 

  • Lead, collaborate and execute the financial reporting and monthly accounting close of corporate and subsidiary locations, covering the following areas:
  • G/L accounting, payroll and expense reporting
  • Loan portfolio accounting, revenue recognition and cash reconciliations
  • Consolidations and foreign currency translations
  • Intercompany transactions and eliminations, including development of transfer pricing policies
  • Loan loss reserve estimates and other accruals
  • Business and regulatory filings
  • Tax compliance and filings in collaboration with Company’s service providers
  • Equity accounting for stock options 
  • Provide technical and operational accounting guidance over topics of revenue recognition procedures, loan loss reserves, consolidations, fx, debt financing transactions, transfer pricing, and others as they arise
  • Foster process improvements on financial reporting that would shorten month-end closes. Collaborate with financial analytics on automation of loan accounting and cash reconciliations. Partner with engineering, operations, HR, and management in developing practical and effective policies and procedures for accuracy of financial numbers and metrics
  • Implement and document effective internal controls and processes to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting
  • Lead successful audit processes with the external audit partner
  • Complete and manage other projects as required

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in an Assistant Controller or Senior Accounting Manager role with exposure on consolidations, fx and multinational operations. Experience with reporting on full P&L and balance sheet is preferred
  • Background in financial institutions, fintech or marketplaces with high velocity transactions and high volume of cash settlements preferred
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with Netsuite or similar tools
  • Strong data and presentation skills with Excel, Powerpoint and business intelligence tools like Periscope, Looker or Tableau 
  • Ability to work in a fast paced global environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required
  • Strong leadership and good team management skills required
  • Willingness to be hands on when necessary and passion to train personnel
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Bachelor degree required 
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • CPA license preferred
