Job Description

The Director, Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing the company’s internal financial reporting process. The ideal candidate is passionate about Wish and e-commerce, has strong technical accounting and analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The Director, Assistant Controller position will be located at our headquarters office in San Francisco, CA and report to the Controller

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage a team (10+) and coordinate the monthly accounting close activities to ensure timely and accurate internal financial statements are produced in accordance with GAAP
  • Review non-GAAP internal financial disclosures and related reconciliation to the GAAP financial information
  • Review and modify existing internal controls, as well as develop additional internal controls and the related documentation in order to attain SOX 404 compliance
  • Drive and Improve monthly/quarterly account reconciliation accounting process including coordination with external auditors (Calendars, PBC, execution dates)
  • Review monthly account reconciliations, inter-company accounting, individual entity financials and consolidation
  • Review and approve journal entries
  • Understand and document reporting needs, collaborate on operational issues, develop creative solutions in the absence of perfect systems, and provide business guidance and insight through financial reporting.
  • Own/Review and produce individual entity financial information for local statutory and work with tax team for tax reporting
  • Evaluate the accounting and other systems and recommend changes or new applications to achieve better financial and operational reporting and an improved control environment

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • Proven experience as an assistant controller or similar position, including managing a team
  • Accounting or finance degree with a minimum 12 years of accounting related experience
  • Big 4 public accounting experience with a CPA or Chartered Accountant certification
  • Strong, current understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience preparing for a US IPO that included filing a registration statement with the SEC a plus
  • Experience with QuickBooks and NetSuite a plus

  • Able to manage multiple priorities, work cross-functionally and meet tight filing deadlines
  • Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
