Director, Corporate Accounting (Multiple Locations)

We are looking for an accounting leader that will play a key role in the strategic and operational initiatives of the finance team. Reporting directly to the Corporate Controller, the Director of Corporate Accounting’s general responsibility is to lead the general accounting functions; manage the monthly financial close process; and ensure timely completion of the monthly close process including an analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are properly maintained.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the monthly/quarterly financial close process, including resolving financial close issues, analyzing financial statements variances from budget and forecast, improving the financial reporting process, evaluating the adequacy of internal controls and making improvements where necessary, and reviewing key processes for potential improvements
- Effectively supervise the work of accountants in the monthly close process and reconciliations, including the review and approve all journal entries
- Ensure that all transactions are recorded in compliance with US GAAP, financial statements are properly presented, and the accounting of business transactions are accurate and timely by coordinating across various departments
- Develop and implement financial policies, reporting practices, and systems to improve operational performance
- Review financial and operational data to develop and maintain meaningful periodic reporting and analysis on financial results to management
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure that controls over financial reporting are in place and working effectively
- Work with tax consultants to ensure timely reporting of all taxes and regulatory filings with the appropriate local, state, and federal authorities, as well as to ensure accurate tax provisions and returns
- Coordinate with external auditors regarding report requirements for quarterly review and annual audit, in addition to facilitating timely, cost effective audits
- Work with other members of the Finance and Accounting group to collaborate on information gathering, closing of the books, and analyzing/interpreting financial information
- Hire, train, and develop competent accounting staff
- Other accounting-related and project-based tasks as exigencies dictate
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree, CPA preferred; MBA a plus
- 7+ years of experience managing an accounting team
- Big 4 Public Accounting experience (preferred)
- Excellent technical accounting and financial reporting skills
- High level of proficiency with MS Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, along with ability to manage multiple tasks and competing demands
- Highly self-motivated and an excellent team player
- Able to work independently, with keen attention to detail
- Knowledge of Sage Intacct or similar (NetSuite ERP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP); experience implementing an accounting or ERP system, or as administrator, a plus
- Experience with integration of M&A opportunities (preferred)
