About You

The Director of Finance Operations will partner closely with the Finance, Product and Executive team to chart Hippo’s future growth and strategic response to a competitive environment. This position is charged with overseeing the day to day operations, creating operational strategies and policies, and supporting the product and Finance organizations with strategic platforms and goals. The Director of Finance Operations will contribute by serving as a strategic partner to the product organization, and will lead a team who serves as the business unit financial partners.This position will play a critical role in strengthening organizational operations through development, design, and implementation of key initiatives and projects, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides financial oversight and leadership across but not limited to  divisional finance, billing, risk operations, monthly reporting and forecasting, quarterly reporting etc.
  • Drives the execution of the future state billing and finance platforms, systems in partnership with Product and technology teams
  • Develop a good understanding of the finance, billing and accounting platforms and partner with product and tech teams by representing the finance team as the operational leader across Program/Product cycle from Requirements, Design, Sign-off, Implementation, User Training 
  • Lead financial integrations of technology platforms in coordination with business, product and technology teams that enable adherence to financial commitments and operating plans
  • Acts as a liaison between corporate finance, product and the business units to ensure fair & accurate financial reporting with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Drive continuous improvement with the current reporting roadblocks within Operations Finance
  • Leads and/or participates in special projects and assignments as required and coaches the accountable operations team members via robust business, product partner support and financial reporting

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or related field required. 
  • 8 + years of relevant work experience managing the finance operations in Insurance, Banking or financial service institution or  fast growing Fintech, InsurTech firms,  Financial Planning and Analysis, Audit and Accounting, Management Consulting etc.)
  • Experience partnering with and working with product and tech  teams in an organization
  • Experience extracting insights from data, working with billing and finance systems   
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, and apply initiative and creativity to difficult projects
  • Experience in AS-IS TO-BE and Gap Analysis, writing operational specifications for implementing financial and billing solutions
