Director of Financial Operations
As the Director of Financial Operations located in Ripple’s San Francisco office, you will be responsible for development and maintenance of processes and systems necessary to ensure the finance team provides a high level of service to the broader organization. Reporting to the Controller, the Director of Financial Operations will be responsible for building scalable infrastructure in a complex and rapidly growing international environment, and will support efficient operations for other teams as well.
The Director of Financial Operations will have primary responsibility for efficient global operations in the following primary areas: procurement and payables, travel and expense management, global payroll, and financial systems. They will also provide guidance in building operational efficiency to other teams, such as the treasury, general ledger accounting, revenue and international accounting teams.
In collaboration with the Controller, you will determine the team staffing and strategy and build the structures and implement the systems necessary to deliver on the strategy. As the team lead for the portion of the finance organization with the most relevant day to day interactions with the employee base, you will be responsible for building a strong customer service organization and building strong relationships across the organization. To be successful in this role you will need to be highly organized, be able to select effective strategies, be prepared to scale, and be hands-on in executing on the vision.
What you'll do:
- Responsible for developing, monitoring and improving key performance indicators for financial operations
- Responsible for implementing process simplification and automation activities
- Manage financial system strategy, selection, implementation and maintenance efforts
- Build a team of managers and specialists to ensure Ripple is prepared for continued growth
- Manage systems and processes for vendor purchases, including compliance with purchasing controls
- Manage global travel program through the company’s TMC
- Maintain expense report systems and ensure compliance of employee population with established expense policy
- Manage global scaling of timely and accurate payroll operations
- Support accounting team with monthly, quarterly and annual close processes
- Provide support to finance management and other internal customers including ad-hoc financial analysis, special projects, and international expansion initiatives
What we’re looking for:
- 10+ years relevant work experience
- 5+ years of experience with broad responsibility for financial operations
- Prior experience managing accounts payable and related functions
- Demonstrated experience with selection and effective implementation of financial systems
- Proven ability to scale operations at a growing company and build a successful team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence at the leadership level
- Strong work ethic and ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional attention to detail with ability to identify issues and propose solutions to complex or non-standard situations
- Experience in international organization
- Undergraduate degree or equivalent
Preferred Experience:
- Software and/or financial industry experience preferred
- MBA or CPA preferred
