Director of Revenue Accounting
Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Atlassian is seeking a strategic leader for our Global Revenue Accounting function. In this role, you would lead the entire operational and technical teams responsible for Atlassian’s revenue policies, revenue recognition and go-to-market partnership. In this role, you'll get to:
- Lead all aspects of all of Atlassian’s global Revenue Accounting function including the month-end close process, related reporting/disclosures, and the completion of all technical revenue accounting positions.
- Coach and mentor a high-performing global Revenue team of 15. Drive further resourcing and development required to support future objectives.
- Oversee the Finance go-to-market initiative intake and impact analysis, in coordination with the Quote-to-Cash Portfolio Manager, including flagging areas of impact for other Finance teams. Supervise the Revenue function’s operational and technical readiness for all go-to-market initiatives.
- Influence go-to-market strategy by advising the Atlassian pricing counsel and other key business stakeholders on the operational and technical revenue implications of complex new business strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with our external auditors and key business contacts including Corporate Accounting, FP&A, Marketing, Sales, Channel Team, Internal Audit, Legal, Corporate Development, and Pricing and Strategy Operations.
- Own the integration of Revenue Accounting for new acquisitions from due diligence and the creation of technical revenue policies to the integration and automation of revenue recognition
- Drive the continuous review and improvement of revenue systems and business processes in the Quote to Cash function. Partner with the IT organization to drive further system implementation and improvements with robotic process automation (“RPA”).
- Collaborate with senior leadership on revenue recognition matters and present revenue recognition topics to executive leadership and board members.
- 10+ years of dynamic experience within the finance and accounting organization; high-growth and SaaS industry a must; multi-national experience with multi-billion in annual revenues required with significant experience managing and reviewing high volume at scale.
- Minimum of 6 years in a leadership/management position. Proven leader in training and developing high-performing teams with consistently strong positive feedback from direct reports.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or equivalent is preferred, but not required. Experience with a Big-4 accounting firm is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in revenue accounting processes under current revenue recognition guidance (ASC 606/ IFRS 15)
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills and a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally at various levels within a company
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to new business initiatives. Able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines while maintaining the highest of standards for completeness and accuracy. Effective and decisive under pressure.
- Significant experience identifying and driving improvements to the quote to cash process through cross-functional projects and engaging with different functions throughout the company
- Excellent research abilities, strong technical writing skills, and experience/ aptitude in various challenging revenue recognition topics
- Experience with NetSuite/Oracle and/or RevPro.
