Director of Strategy, Financial Crimes and Identity
About the role
Chime onboards thousands of accounts and processes hundreds of millions of dollars in transactions every week, including debit card purchases, transfers between banks, P2P payments, direct deposits, and more. As the Director of Strategy, Financial Crimes & Identity, you and your team will champion the program, drive cross-functional and strategic projects and initiatives, and establish operational excellence within the Financial Crimes and Identity team.
Your team will use market intelligence to guide decision-making and advise other teams. You will coordinate with key cross-functional teams including Engineering, Product, Operations, and Data Analytics to implement program enhancements while keeping in mind an exceptional member experience. With high growth in the team’s people and processes, we need an experienced leader to build out this team and lead an effective, member-focused Financial Crimes and Identity program at Chime.
For Colorado based roles: In accordance with applicable law, this role has an annual starting salary of $160,500 plus bonus, a competitive equity package, and benefits (see below). The actual pay may be higher depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
- Provide strategic vision for and execution of the Financial Crimes and Identity program roadmap
- Build and iterate on various processes with leaders and teams to drive alignment, build teams and culture, simplify execution, and improve quality and efficiency
- Manage and grow a team of experienced financial crime strategy and policy professionals
- Facilitate cross functional alignment of program and policy updates, process changes, and resource allocation
- Lead cross functional engagement to ensure timely execution on deliverables, and transparency to affected subject matter experts
- Design and implement effective program controls, limits, and experiences
- Develop and maintain partnerships across bank partners for program coordination
- Lead all strategic management oversight responsibilities for Financial Crimes and Identity
To thrive in this role, you have
- BA or BS degree; MBA or other advanced graduate degree a plus
- 8+ years of Financial Crimes management experience
- Proven track record of people management, including experience managing nimble, distributed, multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience working at a hands-on level with other groups like engineers, product managers, data analysts, operations analysts in building operations processes and systems
- Demonstrated conflict management and negotiation skills, including ability to influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management
- Sound experience in troubleshooting and diagnostic methodology involving technical, cross-functional teams, when necessary
- The ability to work effectively in an asynchronous, distributed team environment as well as accomplish work assignments under minimal supervision and sometimes tight deadlines
