To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Financial Reporting Manager to join our Finance team. This is a critical and high-profile role to build and scale the financial reporting process at Grammarly. We’re looking for a detail-oriented, curious, and analytical leader who will build and manage Grammarly’s global financial reporting function and help us achieve our operational and financial goals while embodying our company values.
Your impact
As Grammarly’s Financial Reporting Manager, you will join a world-class Finance team to help establish best-in-class financial reporting and technical accounting workflows within a fast-paced environment. You will work closely with the Accounting, Tax, and FP&A teams to deliver timely internal and external reporting in accordance with the US GAAP and SEC reporting rules. This role will help to build and maintain Grammarly’s accounting policies and address technical accounting issues arising from business transactions or the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
In this role, you will:
- Oversee and manage the preparation of all financial reports, including quarterly reports on Form 10-Q and annual reports on Form 10-K. This includes the preparation of Grammarly’s GAAP balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of shareholders’ equity, as well as drafting and reviewing disclosures and qualitative performance discussions.
- Prepare quarterly and annual US GAAP management reporting presentations; act as primary lead on ad hoc reporting requirements.
- Establish active and effective communication with senior members of the Finance team and with executives regarding strategic initiatives at Grammarly.
- Assess, analyze, and document technical accounting impacts of new standards and pronouncements.
- Lead research and tracking of industry disclosures, news, and best practices for all external reporting requirements.
- Anticipate new and monitor pending ASC and SEC requirements and update disclosures accordingly.
- Maintain Grammarly’s reporting calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for financial reports.
- Assess, develop, and maintain effective internal controls in the financial reporting process.
- Establish, develop, and maintain the company’s accounting policies.
- Research and explain quarterly and year-to-date fluctuations in income and balance sheet accounts.
We’re looking for someone who
- Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
- Holds a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and is a CPA.
- Has solid communication and interpersonal skills; can communicate complex technical matters and risks to all management levels.
- Has a minimum of 8 years of experience, including 4 years with a Big 4 accounting firm and relevant financial reporting experience. (S-1 experience would be a big plus.)
- Can drive process improvements.
- Has strong project, people management, and prioritization skills.
- Has a great sense of accuracy, good listening, and problem-resolution skills.
- Has an upbeat attitude—will seek out opportunities and be willing to "roll up your sleeves."
- Is thorough and detail-oriented, and can work well independently in a team environment.
- Has a strong accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules as well as SOX compliance, including the ability to research accounting literature, establish, document the position, and develop procedures for implementation.
- Has extensive and proven experience in evolving and developing processes, controls, and systems in support of US-listed company requirements.
- Is familiar with Workiva or other external reporting platforms; has systems/ERP experience with NetSuite. (These would be a plus.)
