SentinelOne is looking for a General Ledger & Technical Accounting Manager to join our growing Accounting team. The successful candidate is a self-motivated, adaptive, self-starter who can manage and prioritize an evolving workload in a fast-paced environment with minimal direct supervision. The candidate should be able to establish connections throughout the company to facilitate accounting involvement in processes and projects and work through preliminary analysis of issues. This position will report to the Director of Accounting & External Reporting and also work closely with other members of Controllership and the external auditors.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the chart of accounts and the legal entity hierarchies within our ERP
  • Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close process end-to-end with compliance to US GAAP financial reporting
  • Perform financial functions including preparation and posting of journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement analysis, financial report preparation, and variance analysis
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Perform reconciliations for allocations and intercompany accounting for SentinelOne’s subsidiaries
  • Ensure appropriate functional currency determinations and worldwide FX questions are resolved and accounted for properly
  • Independently research, interpret, analyze, compile and present data and information to key stakeholders
  • Responsible for the documentation and maintenance of corporate accounting policies and ad-hoc technical accounting memos
  • Monitor current developments in new accounting literature to identify any required changes in SentinelOne’s accounting policies, assess and implement such changes to ensure that accounting activities are both regulatory and U.S. GAAP compliant
  • Independently research authoritative literature and provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, stock-based compensation, leases, legal transactions, impairments, investments, and other non-routine complex business transactions, including drafting high-quality technical accounting memos to support conclusions reached
  • Manage and act as liaison in cross-functional projects and initiatives that directly impact accounting area to ensure U.S. GAAP compliance. Examples include implementation of new accounting policies, due diligence, accounting entries and integration related to acquisitions and other significant business transactions, and other significant complex transactions
  • Perform quarterly review of goodwill and intangible assets impairment, including year-end evaluation for impairment
  • Assists with the update of key SOX controls and changes in processes, as needed
  • Coordinate support for internal and external audits, as required
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statement disclosures for internal and external reporting, including disclosures in the Form 10-Q/K and earnings releases, as needed
  • Assist external reporting team with complex regulatory reporting matters
  • Assists with and work on special projects as-needed, including systems implementations
  • Have an eye for process improvement to optimize SentinelOne’s accounting and financial reporting close process.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with various company stakeholders and take on new tasks with various levels of difficulty in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Meet multiple deadlines in a fast-growing environment with frequently changing priorities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA license preferred
  • 5-8 years of related experience; Big 4 public accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with NetSuite is a plus, or at a minimum, aptitude for learning and working with accounting systems
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new process flows and software technologies
  • Team player with a hands-on mindset and a well-balanced blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, planning, process management and collaboration
  • Self-starter, who enjoys multi-tasking, learning, and working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of US GAAP, SOX 404 and SEC reporting standards, as well as experience with technical research
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to work cross-functionally, research and comprehend complex matters, articulate issues in a clear and simplified manner and present findings and recommendations in both oral and written presentations
  • Ability to lead, organize, and manage projects beginning to end that require coordinated efforts across multiple functions (e.g., Accounting, Tax, FP&A, Legal, Operations, IT, Internal Audit)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is a must
