The value of this position 

The Head of Pricing is a newly created role reporting to the Chief Insurance Officer. The role is accountable for delivering innovative actuarial solutions, pricing models and rate plans, competitor analysis, trend analysis and profitability studies.  Additionally, the Head of Pricing is accountable for building an actuarial foundation and organization with the goal of converting to a full stack-carrier in mind.


What you will own in this role 


  • Develop and continuously improve profit and pricing infrastructure.
  • Update key model assumptions, trend, LDF’s pricing methodology, trend, rate indications, key actuarial philosophies, loss trend analysis and a return framework.
  • Develop pricing, planning methodologies, and evaluate their ongoing effectiveness.
  • Development of new pricing models as well as ongoing refinement of existing pricing models.
  • Assisting the filing team in preparation of filings and responses to objections.
  • Working closely with the Head of Finance to provide subject matter expertise on financial projections.
  • Working closely with the Head of Analytics to develop and continuously improve advanced price segmentation models.
  • Monitor leading and lagging indicators to profitability on a monthly basis.
  • Engage with risk capital partners.
  • Oversee and manage all actuarial projects.
  • Engage outside actuarial firms as needed.


What experience we think is the right fit

  • ACAS or FCAS 
  • 8+ years of experience as an actuary
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience as a commercial P&C pricing actuary
  • Actuarial Consulting Experience
  • Experience building rate plans as well as exceptional Excel skills
  • Adept at bringing creative insurance product ideas to solve ambiguous problems
  • Exceptional communication skills, with an emphasis on real-time interaction, either written or verbal
  • Experience developing new rating methodologies
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with the ability to prioritize high impact work
  • Data analytics experience in predictive modeling, AI and machine learning
