As the Head of Payments for Recurly you will be responsible for developing our overall payment strategy including our payment ecosystem partnerships and payment offering. This highly visible role reports directly to the SVP of Product. We are looking for a seasoned leader who can help set the overall vision and strategy for the payment area, drive executive alignment around that vision and initiate and lead cross-functional initiatives.

The Head of Payment will remain current on industry issues and trends and provide leadership, expertise and support across the organisation to advance Recurly’s position as innovation and thought leader in recurring payments. The Head of Payments will represent Recurly externally and provide expertise to industry groups and support efforts to train and speak to the industry regarding payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop partnerships with players within the payments ecosystem (banks, networks, gateways, processors, wallets and other payment/platform providers) to support our merchants to drive user acquisition and payment success across all relevant markets 
  • Identify and evaluate partners to support relevant payment programs including improvements to our payment success optimization initiatives as well as revenue recovery 
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering to define product roadmap in order to continuously improve our payments platform
  • Strategically assess new opportunities in the payments area and develop business case and executive alignment around these
  • Be the subject matter expert that knows the details of Recurly’s payment platform
  • Support Business Development, Sales and Account Management teams with payments expertise to win new channels, business and to secure long lasting customer relationships
  • Represent Recurly and our brand externally in the payment ecosystem given public facing facets of the role

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of relevant work experience including leadership roles in the payments industry and/or financial services-related industry
  • Strong knowledge of, and network in, payments/financial services industry
  • The desire and ability to take a stand and advocate a course of action, presenting supporting facts and data to back up your position
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to executive leadership
  • Demonstrated excellence in conceptual thinking and analytical problem-solving
  • Comfortable working in a highly entrepreneurial environment under limited guidance
  • Strong collaborator who can build partnerships across the organization
  • Good knowledge of subscription billing technology platforms preferred
  • Background and good understanding of SaaS business and proven success in B2B product initiatives and leadership preferred
