Head of Revenue

ROLE OVERVIEW
At Benchling, we understand that a successful revenue organization is one with sufficient technical accounting strength combined with operational acumen and passion for execution. We are looking for the Head of Revenue who will lead the vision and build out best-in-class Revenue Accounting and Order to Cash functions and processes while partnering with Sales, IT, Customer Experience and other groups within the company. This is a Senior Director role which reports into the Chief Accounting Officer and is located in San Francisco, CA.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Oversee the Revenue Accounting function and together with the Technical Accounting team own the company’s revenue accounting policy in accordance with ASC 606.
- Continuously evaluate the system infrastructure surrounding revenue accounting and order to cash processes. Make recommendations and oversee implementation of additional systems and processes.
- Together with your team, continuously generate reliable and timely financial data and metrics; optimize operational efficiency and scalability; and implement public-company ready internal controls.
- Partner with Sales Operations, Legal, and others to create a seamless, cohesive quote-to-cash process
- Own responsibility for design and effectiveness of internal controls across revenue accounting and order to cash processes
- Act as adviser to Sales and Legal organizations when reviewing drafted sales deals prior to execution
- Oversee an effective cash collections team ensuring cash collection targets are met in each fiscal quarter
- Partner with Tax to ensure compliance with global sales, use tax and filing requirements.
- Lead, coach, mentor and train the team
- Participate in month/quarter/year-end accounting close as well as audits
- Ensure that the Revenue Accounting team produces best-in-class workpapers which are easy to follow, therefore creating efficiencies in revenue accounting, financial reporting, substantive audit, and internal audit processes.
ABOUT YOU
- 12 years of experience working in public accounting, revenue accounting, financial operations, and/or internal audit functions
- BS/BA in Accounting or equivalent required; Master of Accounting or similar preferred
- CPA designation strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of ASC 606
- Experience in high-growth SaaS environment with subscription and professional service offerings strongly preferred
- Strong familiarity with ERP systems and integrations is required; familiarity with NetSuite and Salesforce is strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to tailor presentation of information for appropriate audiences - from internal teams to Board of Directors
- Entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to continually innovate and improve as business grows and evolves
