The Finance and Strategy team is responsible for accelerating the growth of our business by identifying and implementing new opportunities and solutions as well as building the financial infrastructure and rigor to support the scale of the business. We partner with teams across the company to improve the profitability, scalability and defensibility of our business model - delivering financial predictability, business accountability and insights to optimize decisions and resourcing. About the Role
We are looking for an experienced actuary who will be a member of DoorDash’s Corporate Risk & Insurance function within the Finance & Strategy team, and will focus on third party insurance programs and our newly created captive insurance company. In this role, you’ll have the rare opportunity to come in at the program formulation stage of DoorDash’s Captive and to build the company’s actuarial philosophy and strategy from the ground up. This individual will also have the unique opportunity to build out an in-house actuarial team at DoorDash.

- Leverage your domain expertise in conducting internal actuarial analysis to ensure appropriate modeling to compare and validate 3rd party analysis, with an emphasis on the auto line of business
- Serve as a key partner to the Accounting & Finance teams to ensure the accuracy of insurance reserves in DoorDash’s financial reporting process
- Build internal actuarial models, monitor loss trends/development and effectively communicate relevant business implications to executive management team
- Work with 3rd party insurance companies to verify and validate loss reserve philosophy
We’re excited about you because you have…
- Domain expertise with insurance actuarial analysis and experience building actuarial models
- 5-10 years of Property & Casualty Actuarial experience
- BA/BS degree & FCAS or ACAS designation
- Experience working with commercial auto insurance
- Prior experience working with or for a gig or sharing economy company
- Experience working with a Captive a plus
- Outstanding communication skills and an ability to clearly explain/teach complex insurance actuarial terms and techniques to internal stakeholders
