Description
RingCentral’s legal department is looking for a talented and experienced lawyer, manager and leader to oversee and manage our procurement contracts group.
The procurement team is responsible for negotiating several domestic and international procurement contracts, including license, hosted services, marketing, telecommunications operations and networking, professional services, confidentiality and other agreements, as well as advising on marketing promotions and contests. These transactions range from complex, high-value agreements with strategic partners and providers to high-volume, standard procurement contracts. The Associate General Counsel will manage attorneys and contract managers that support procurement contracting matters and develop training, playbooks, and/or templates for key stakeholders. The team this role leads also provides ongoing legal counsel and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members; provides day-to-day support for a variety of the Company’s operational activities - including managing procurement contracts and vendor-side commercial law matters; and advises on issues related to the internal use of third-party technology. The candidate also will be expected to participate in other legal projects as directed, including the administration and resolution of legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. The procurement team works closely with the other legal groups, particularly legal operations and regulatory, and the finance, operations, IT and marketing departments.
Key Components of the Role
Oversee team in negotiating a wide range of domestic and international procurement and strategic provider contracts and confidentiality agreements
Advise on day-to-day commercial contracting issues.
Develop and/or oversee development of templates and playbooks to improve the efficiency of procurement contracting processes.
Deliver high quality- cost-effective legal services to a range of stakeholders across the organization, providing practical advice and facilitating creative problem-solving and informed decision-making.
Collaborate cross-functionally (e.g. with finance, accounting, procurement, tax and treasury, privacy and security, Operations and IT) and within the legal department to achieve desired results on tight timelines.
Coordinate engagement and oversight of outside counsel as necessary.
Advise on worldwide marketing promotions and contests.
Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and top academic credentials
Membership in at least one state bar.
A minimum of 10 years of legal experience (with several years' experience at a leading law firm or in-house environment).
Strong transactional and commercial contracts experience.
A minimum of [three] years of experience managing a team of attorneys and other legal professionals.
Excellent management skills and business judgment with a capacity to make decisions and give advice which demonstrates an understanding of overall business objectives and the risks/rewards of each situation.
Strong organizational skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires management of multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to communicate effectively with non-legal personnel both verbally and in writing.
Familiarity with SaaS services and IT infrastructure.
Strong background in inbound technology licensing. Familiarity with telecommunications operations/network agreements is a plus.
Extensive experience with contract lifecycle management systems
