About the Role:  

Planet is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager with strong attention to detail and a desire to build great processes. This role is primarily responsible for timely and accurate processing of Planet’s U.S. payroll and supporting local in-country service providers for monthly payroll in Singapore. The Payroll Manager will be the primary contact for all payroll related inquiries and drive exceptional employee experience. The successful candidate will bring payroll expertise to support the growth and success of Planet.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Manage full-cycle processing of U.S. payroll on semi-monthly basis (400+ employees) and global payroll (i.e. Singapore) on monthly basis for 300+ employees

  • Process supplemental payroll and any out of sequence checks such as terminations or payroll corrections

  • Work closely with Paylocity, the Payroll Service Provider, to optimize system functionality and improve process automation on Paylocity’s platform

  • Maintain payroll master file to ensure accurate payroll reconciliation for each pay period

  • Monitor and ensure all government reporting requirements, regulations and compliance for payroll taxes and withholdings are met

  • Provide excellent employee experience as the contact for all employee inquiries

  • Work closely with People team to ensure that employee changes are accurately and timely reflected in Paylocity

  • Update processes to reflect new and changed payroll laws and regulations

  • Partner with Equity team for purposes of recording transactions related to restricted stock units, non-qualified stock options, incentive stock options and employee stock purchase plan (ESPP)

  • Support monthly accounting close cycle for items related to payroll, including journal entries, reconciliation between Paylocity and NetSuite, schedule preparation, and variance analyses

  • Work in collaboration with People Operations on workers compensation and 401K plan audits

  • Assist with ad hoc reporting and project as needed

  • Support system integrations and implementation (i.e, HRS, Equity, Expense Reporting tool, etc) as they relate to payroll function

  • Being the primary point of contact for the global payroll function, and acting as a  liaison between the rest of the organization and various payroll leads in various  entities.

What You Bring:

  • Ability to work well independently and as a team member in a time sensitive environment

  • Unquestionable ethics and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive data

  • Minimum 5 years of end to end U.S. payroll process experience

  • Multi-state U.S. tax filing experience, which may be through a payment service provider

  • Experience with equity transactions and various regulations and reporting requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other quantitative major

  • Highly proficient in Excel

Compensation (only applicable for Colorado applicants):

The base pay range targeted for this position in Colorado is: $81,000 - $143,100. This role is eligible for equity.

The actual offer, including the compensation package, is determined based on multiple factors, including experience, location, and other business considerations.

Planet is registered as an employer in many, but not all, states. If you are not able to work from a state where Planet is registered, you will not be eligible for employment.
