Revenue Accounting Manager
Atlassian is continuing to hire with all interviewing and on-boarding done virtually due to COVID-19. Everyone new to the team, along with our current staff, will temporarily work from home until it is safe to return to our offices.
Atlassian is seeking a best-in-class leader for our worldwide Revenue Accounting team. You will provide leadership, accounting expertise, business sense, and will have a strong desire to improve processes. You will have ownership over the revenue close process, from supporting new product launches to sharing the financial impacts of revenue results within the organization.
You’re a great fit for this role if you have an in-depth knowledge of accounting operations and have experience managing and building out a high-performance team in a public company environment. Atlassian’s Revenue Accounting is highly automated and therefore you will have partnered with IT extensively in the past to automate using technology. This role reports to our Sr. Revenue Manager who is invested in the continued development of the team and your career.
In this role you will :
- Review and communicate on complex deal arrangements as needed and advise on transaction structure to align contract terms and operating objectives and provide education to the business on revenue accounting impacts.
- Support the preparation and review of technical accounting memorandums for significant transactions, GTM initiatives and drive the review process with external auditors
- Oversee all of Atlassian’s Revenue Accounting including the month-end close process, reconciliations, and related reporting and disclosures
- Coach and mentor your team to support their growth / professional development and identify the mix and level of talent required to support current and future objectives
- Build and maintain relationships with our external auditors and key business contacts including Corporate Accounting, Corporate Development, Pricing and Strategy, FP&A, Sales, Internal Audit, and Legal
- Lead the design and implementation of accounting policies and procedures related to new product launches and M&A activities
- Partner with the Finance Systems team on further system enhancements to the quote to cash process and drive forward on robotic process automation
- Develop and prepare analysis of revenue forecasting, performance trends, and variance explanations for C-level feedback
On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
- Experience leading operational revenue, preferably at a public software company with high volume at scale.
- Experience in technical revenue (ASC 606/IFRS 15), preferably at a public software company with high volume at scale.
- Excellent research abilities, strong technical writing skills, and experience/aptitude in various challenging revenue recognition topics.
- Proven ability to develop and inspire a team by empowering decision-making at lower levels, offering frequent opportunities to develop, and encouraging upward feedback. You hold yourself accountable for the performance of the team and take absolute ownership
- Experience identifying and driving improvements to the quote to cash process through cross-functional projects and engaging with different functions throughout the company
- Proven ability to successfully manage competing priorities and in a fast paced environment.
- 5-7+ years of accounting experience, ideally with experience at both public companies and Big 4 accounting firms
- A CPA and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent
- A systems mindset and, ideally, experience with Netsuite and/or RevPro
