THE ROLE

 It’s an exciting time to join a rapidly growing Accounting team, as the company evolves from a late stage start-up to getting ready to operate as a public company. This position will play a key role in owning the accounting for revenue and inventory and being a business partner with the Merchandise and Inventory team by providing analysis for decision-making. The role will include managing and leading a team of accountants and assisting with system enhancement projects. You will have the chance to serve as a key contributor to a high growth environment and scale the accounting function by improving current processes and developing new methodologies on key estimates.

Your Impact:

  • Lead a team of accountants to scale the accounting function to operate as a public company
  • Responsible for accounting for revenue and inventory related accounts, including complex areas, such as accounting for excess and obsolete inventory, inventory in-transit, vendor allowances, VIP Membership revenue, customer credits and sales refund reserves
  • Develop, implement and maintain key policies and procedures for your area of responsibilities, including designing and implementing internal controls over financial reporting compliant with SOX
  • Provide business decision support in the form of reporting and analysis for the Merchandise and Inventory team
  • Provide guidance to Operations Technology on the design and implementation of an inventory management system, and design of processes for new lines of business
  • Participate in User Acceptance Testing for ERP system; understand the resulting changes to transaction flows and testing the new reports
  • Partner with Operations to plan an effective year-end inventory count and assist external auditors auditors with testing
  • Function as the point of contact for external auditors for your areas of responsibility 
  • Contribute to other strategic projects and initiatives as needed

About You:

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting or Business Administration with an Accounting emphasis. Preference will be given to those with a CPA Certification
  • 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience, with some experience in accounting for inventory. Experience in retail or eCommerce is a plus!
  • Experience supporting and/or developing enterprise level business systems. Experience with Netsuite is a plus!
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, rapidly growing environment
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and proactively. A strong sense of urgency to drive high quality work product with impeccable attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SOX/internal controls. Preference will be given to those who have experience working for a public company
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead multiple projects under tight deadlines
