The Accounting Team at AppDirect provides the financial backbone of the company in the form of payroll, billing operations, accounts payable, revenue, equity, and financial reporting. We are a small team with great responsibility as providers of financial metrics and gatekeepers of compliant financial reporting. We are active participants in the Company’s robust revenue cycle and proactively champion financial integrity, process efficiency and internal controls in the spirit of the core values of AppDirect.

About You:

As the Financial Operations Senior Manager, you will be responsible for leading our Order to Cash operations & teams, including Order Management, Billing, Cash Collections & Cash Applications. You are strategic and detail oriented, with strong accounting and finance skills. You have a high level of business acumen & project management skills, which you leverage to communicate and partner cross-functionally to drive business outcomes. It is your goal to optimize the efficiency of the Order to Cash processes and systems by evaluating and automating our processes, designing our systems architecture and project managing initiatives that will improve both of these areas. You are an experienced people manager, who drives your team to achieve goals and continuously engages them to plan their career development. This is a senior leadership role on our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing a team of Accountants and a track record of owning initiatives that help the business to achieve its goals. You are a problem solver who thrives off of a fast-paced environment where new customers, business verticals and operational processes are being introduced every day.

How you’ll make an impact & what you’ll do:

  • Team: Recruit, retain and develop a team of Accountants & Accounting Mangers. Identify skill development areas and discuss career plan actions for team, regularly engage in career conversations with direct reports to enable employee growth. Help team members to continuously improve their performance by pro-actively providing feedback, recommendations, and support. You will report to the Global Corporate Controller.
  • Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Legal, Sales & Marketing, Customer Operations, Product Management and Engineering, to identify and drive important business initiatives. Program manage these projects, which are often large and span multiple years. 
  • Systems: Own the systems and modules for Order Management, Billing, Collections and Cash Applications, including system design, system roadmap planning, and project execution or sponsorship. Build a system architecture that drives efficiency & automation through excellent system utilization & interoperability.
  • Operations: Implement new policies and procedures and improve existing processes to scale our Order to Cash functions. Evaluate Billing & Collections data, as well as user feedback to make sound, data driven recommendations to reduce Billing Errors and Cash Collections delays.
  • Accounting: Drive the Accounts Receivable Accounting Month-end and Year-end Close. Evaluate the over-all close process to identify and address areas for process improvements and efficiency.
  • Compliance: Assist with external financial audits, SOC audits, and other due diligence requests. 

What you’ll need: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred in Business, Accounting, or Finance)
  • Experience: 7 to 10 years of progressive Accounting Operations or Accounting experience, with at least 5 years of people management experience.
  • System Skills: NetSuite ERP system experience with emphasis on AR Module, Projects Module, Case Management or equivalent. Advanced computer skills especially in Microsoft Excel.
  • Process oriented: Experience evaluating processes and using data to make process design changes and improvements.
  • Communication skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including excellent written, oral, listening and presentational skills and ability to work well under pressure and interact at all levels are also required
  • Teamwork: Teamwork is essential to the group, so it is critical that the candidate interact with other team members and manages collaboratively and effectively.
