Grand Rounds is looking for a Staff Accountant to join our growing team. This role will have multiple areas of responsibility including the monthly accounting close, year-end financial audits, and other areas of operations. Grand Rounds is growing fast and the candidate will be expected to build and improve processes to support this growth. This role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager and requires a significant amount of interaction with senior employees across the company and with outside consultants and partners. This role offers a tremendous opportunity to gain experience with a thriving company that is making a significant impact to improve people’s lives.

Responsibilities:

Invoicing & Collections

  • Create invoices and submit to customer in a timely manner
  • Generate any adjustments or credit memos as needed 
  • Follow up frequently with customers to ensure on-time payment
  • Prepare a monthly collections email for the CFO

Cash & Banking

  • Daily posting of cash receipts 
  • Monitor and process auto debits, manual wires, sweep transfers transactions for all bank accounts 
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations

Fixed Assets

  • Work closely with IT/Workplace Services to record fixed asset acquisitions and disposals in ERP
  • Run depreciation for all fixed assets
  • Perform reconciliation of fixed assets subsidiary ledger balance to the general ledger

Purchasing & Accruals

  • Review Purchase Orders to ensure completeness and accuracy
  • Prepare monthly expense accruals
  • Prepare expense flux analysis 

Payroll & Benefits

  • Work closely with Payroll Manager and Benefit Manager to reconcile payroll clearing account and all benefit ledger accounts for each pay cycle
  • Accrue hourly PTO at month-end
  • Be trained on payroll as a backup and assist with off cycle payroll runs when Payroll Manager is out of office

Miscellaneous

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings
  • Support annual audits performed by external auditors and help with pre-audit preparation
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned when needed to support the business operations

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 2-5 years of accounting work experience
  • CPA or working on the CPA exam a plus
  • ERP system experience (Workday a plus)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates deep analytical thinking
  • Must have intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Highly motivated with the ability to multitask, work independently and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up work environment
