About the Team

Ellation Finance Team is made up of Accounting, Financial Planning Analysis and Business Intelligence team members based in San Francisco, USA with remote finance teams in Tokyo, Japan and Chisinau, Moldova. The Finance Team is a critical service centre for Ellation ensuring that the business foundational and company wide initiatives are met. Our team is diverse, technical and a fun group of tech/media fans. The Accounting function is the backbone of Ellation in ensuring that the financials are accurate, whilst acting as a support function across all departments. Our headquarters are located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV’s passionate communities.

About You:

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Hands-on experience with Netsuite accounting ERP a plus
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Thrives working in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
• Takes initiative in problem solving
• Excellent communication skills, multi-tasking capability and self-motivated
• Ability to work cross-functionally across departments
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Curious and enthusiastic, not afraid to ask questions and challenge the status quo
• BS degree in Accounting, Finance or 1-2 years of related experience
• Excited and passionate for the media and technology industry

A day in the life of our Staff Accountant:

• Support month-end and year-end close process by preparing journals in assigned areas
• Manage daily cash balances and create journal entries for bank reconciliations
• Support the accounts payable process and serve as point of contact for other departments including contractors approvals, invoicing and payments
• Communicate with vendors and other departments to prepare monthly accruals, prepaid schedules and rental lease accounting entries
• Manage corporate credit card accounts
• Assist accounting team with monthly flux/trending analysis
• Support external audits to ensure compliance (as required)
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as assigned by management
• Responsibilities will include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. 
• Collaborating with the rest of the accounting team and other departments is crucial to success in this position. 
• Staff Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.
