The Role

Step is seeking for a Strategic Finance leader to start building a world class Finance team. You will be the first Strategic Finance hire and be responsible for building the team from the ground up to support the fast growing, dynamic Step business.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the CFO and company leadership to drive successful business outcomes for Step
• Leverage your financial background and understanding of our financial and financial drivers to support and influence key strategic and product decisions (e.g., identify high priority industry verticals and use this to inform the group’s prioritization and product roadmap)
• Provide analytical rigor and bring strategic leadership to operational initiatives (e.g., guide your team in developing a pricing strategy and collaborate with cross-functional partners to roll this out)
• Lead strategic and financial planning processes for Step (e.g., Monthly Reviews, Annual Budget, and Long Range Plan), and evaluate organizational tradeoffs in planning to influence decision making
• Collaborate with Step’s leadership to develop best in class operating practices within the product org and with key cross functional partners (e.g. go-to-market teams)
• Develop and monitor critical success and business performance metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders
• Instruct your team in developing detailed models for in-depth analyses, as well as ensure their quality, timeliness, and accuracy
• Be the go-to financial partner for Step’s leaders for ad hoc analysis and relevant external relations (e.g., fundraising, negotiating contract terms or evaluating prospective partnerships)

Qualifications

• 7-15 years of relevant experience within strategic finance, ideally at a high-growth technology and/or financial services company. Management consulting, investment banking and private equity experience will also be considered
• Managerial experience including building high performing teams
• A proven ability to build strong collaborative working relationships with business partners; you are seen as a trusted and objective advisor
• The ability to bring structure to ambiguous areas of opportunity and thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving environment
• An enthusiastic “roll up your sleeves” mentality
• A proven ability to be a self-starter capable of driving business results without significant supervision
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, and extensive experience architecting integrated models from scratch, performing complex and insightful data analysis (including ability to leverage SQL on a daily basis)
• You may also have knowledge of and/or experience in the banking, payments and/or lending industry
