Tax Analyst at Discord
- Review draft sales and use tax returns for multiple jurisdictions and ensure filings.
- Help prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual global indirect tax (VAT/GST/JCT) returns in relevant jurisdictions.
- Stay up-to-date with tax law developments that impact Discord and providing accurate advice to the business.
- Prepare federal, state, & local income tax workpapers/PBC files for third-party service providers to prepare income tax returns. You will compile and analyze financial information to provide a clear audit trail to source documentation.
- Review draft income tax returns prepared by third-party service providers.
- Help with the preparation and review of property tax returns.
- Prepare monthly tax reconciliations and journal entries for tax related general ledger accounts.
- Help with tax accounting for equity-based compensation.
- Participate in preparing tax provisions and related tax accounts to ensure compliance with ASC 740 reporting requirements.
- Support SOX testing of tax department controls for income tax accounts.
- Help develop software solutions for indirect tax compliance automation.
- Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Tax, Accounting or Finance.
- Advanced degree in Tax, Law, or a CPA license (or equivalent).
- 4+ years' tax experience working in public accounting, law firm, or corporate tax environments.
- Excellent tax law and accounting research skills.
- Experience with ASC 740, accounting for equity-based compensation, and tax-accounting principles.
- Familiarity with indirect tax trends of the digital economy.
- Intermediate/advanced Excel skills (can perform complex formulas & vlookups experience), Alteryx and the ability to work with large volumes of transactional data.
- Experience with mid-size to large ERP preferred, (Intacct is a plus).
- Experience with tax technology software (e.g., Avalara/Vertex/Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE) preferred, (Avalara is a plus).
- Explain complex tax concepts in a concise manner both in oral presentations and written memorandums.
