Plaid’s Finance team plays a critical role in intelligently managing our risks and implementing the proper long-term business strategy. You will own all aspects of tax at Plaid, and be the first person dedicated to building our tax function and strategy from the ground-up. Over time, you will be responsible for recruiting and managing a high-performing team. This role will report to the Head of Finance.
What excites you
- Lead all aspects of direct and indirect tax and related accounting matters at Plaid
- Own overall tax strategy, including consolidation, international, and new product taxability
- Prepare domestic and foreign franchise, income, local, sales, and use tax returns and payments
- Successfully navigate tax audits and examinations by all relevant authorities
- Ensure all tax accounts including provisions are properly reflected in audited financial statements
- Implement tax systems, processes, and policies across the Company
- Collaborate with Finance, Accounting, Sales, Engineering and other functions as needed
- Educate Management about tax impact of key business decisions and provide recommendations
- Manage the selection and oversight of external tax advisors
- Over time, recruit and manage a world-class team of tax professionals
What excites us
- 15+ years of experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility
- Expertise with US corporate income tax and state corporate income and sales / use taxes
- Expertise with US GAAP accounting for taxes
- Prior experience with international taxation highly preferred
- Prior experience in Big 4 public accounting and high-growth technology companies preferred
- Strong analytical and presentation skills
- Demonstrated sound business judgement while collaborating with various stakeholders
