About the Role:
We’re seeking a dynamic treasury leader to develop and drive forward our vision of reimagining how residential real estate is bought and sold. Treasury is integral to Opendoor’s business model -- our value proposition of cash certainty for sellers is only viable with best-in-class treasury execution. This role presents a unique opportunity to architect the systems and team that enable and support our mission of allowing consumers to buy, sell & move at the tap of a button.
The ideal candidate for this role thrives in a fast-paced environment and is motivated when faced with difficult challenges that need creative solutions. In this role, you will be a leader within a world-class finance team that is integrated throughout the operations of the Company. You will be reporting directly to the CFO, and your team works closely with Accounting, Capital Markets, Tax, Legal and Finance & Strategy to manage treasury operations. You are a natural leader who can both step back and take a strategic approach while also diving into the details.
As Treasurer, you will:
- Build out the team and processes for both day-to-day treasury operations and strategic treasury functions
- Control daily liquidity management - maintain appropriate cash balances in respective bank accounts
- Establish and maintain a SOX compliant control environment for treasury functions
- Manage investment portfolio and seek opportunities in line with the investment policy
- Oversee bank account management (including account opening/closing, access, wire entitlements, etc.)
- Manage banking relationships, including fees, sweep accounts, and on-boarding / off-boarding of new partners
- Participate in or lead the implementation of various Treasury systems and products
- Identify and implement products and features that will improve controls or efficiency and train users
- Control credit card programs (provider selection, account authorization, credit limits, etc.)
- Partner with Finance & Strategy to refine cash and interest income forecasting models and reporting for cash management
- Partner with Capital Markets to ensure cash management strategy is compliant with financial covenants and company representations
- Assess risk around cash management, banking systems, funding processes; develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks
- Work with SEC Reporting on footnotes and disclosures for Treasury investment sections of the Company’s SEC filings
- Assist with the intercompany settlement processDevelop Treasury organizational framework and support / mentor team members
We’re looking for teammates who have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance, or accounting required
- Minimum of 10 years of combined management experience in treasury/cash management and accounting
- A proactive approach to role and responsibilities - always looking around corners and anticipating future needs of the business
- Experience working with senior leadership and influencing outcomes
- Strong business acumen and systems-level thinking with an emphasis on tech-enabled, scalable solutions
- A growth mindset and a natural curiosity to learn and problem solve
- The ability to develop strong relationships across the organization, as well as with external stakeholders
- Must have good verbal, written, and presentation skills to articulate ideas and plans clearly, accurately, and effectively with all stakeholders
- Experience successfully managing a teamA high degree of ethics and professionalism with the ability to handle confidential information
Bonus points:
- Experience leading a treasury function through a SOX implementation or in a SOX compliant environment
- Experience working at / with real estate or escrow companies
