What we are looking for:

  • We are looking for an experienced Vice-President to lead MasterClass's Financial Planning & Analysis function responsible for all planning processes, including the annual plan, monthly forecasts, and long-range plans.
  • The candidate will also have responsibility for investment decision analysis across the company.
  • This individual will partner and plan with the business to drive the right decisions through actionable insights and analyses.
  • This is a highly influential role across the company and requires someone with a true passion for education, technology, understanding of our product and appreciation of our mission. T
  • his business executive will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer. This role will have the opportunity to not only influence the forward-looking vision of the business, but also help grow the business through advanced financial modeling and development of business cases for strategic growth opportunities.

Responsibilities of the role: 

  • Recognized as a thought leader and business partner across the company and in particular with functional leaders across the organization
  • Responsible for board decks, long range plans, forecasts
  • Partner with business to provide financial perspective on initiatives
  • Collaborate with Ops, Analytics and Marketing to report on performance
  • Drive the annual operating plan and quarterly and monthly forecasts for bookings, revenue, margins, operating expense, headcount, capital expense, and cash flows.
  • Provide the financial reporting, analysis and metrics to ensure the business teams are managing the business and hitting their financial and operational targets
  • Provide financial models and analysis which will guide the organization to make decisions that drive the best ROI for the company.
  • Drive scale initiatives across the CFO organization, as well as cross functional initiatives that support scale across the company
  • Responsible for Board of Directors and the Quarterly Operations Review

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of experience including time leading a finance function
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting; MBA a plus
  • Private and Public company experience is preferred
  • Experience with recurring revenue and subscription business models is a must
  • Strong leadership skills and proven ability to build high performance teams that can operate in a high growth environment
  • Experience managing the business planning process across a company
  • Experience supporting new business models, as well as M&A activities
  • Strong track record of business partnering with C-suite/senior level executives
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills and proven experience in cultivating collaborative working relationships with teams across an organization
  • Have proven ability to think strategically and plan effectively; be detailed, results oriented, while managing multiple tasks against deadlines
  • Strong data architecture and systems skills, as well as deep experience with planning systems/tools
