About this role:

Straight Arrow is seeking a creative and versatile Graphic Designer with 4–5 years of experience in a digital or broadcast news environment. This role will play a key part in elevating Straight Arrow’s visual content across digital, social, marketing and newsletter platforms. The ideal candidate combines strong design fundamentals with a passion for visual communication and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

Visual Design & Content Creation

  • Design high-quality visual assets, including digital graphics, marketing materials, featured images and branded content.
  • Create engaging visuals for social media, web, email campaigns and other digital platforms.
  • Ensure all creative output aligns with brand guidelines and maintains visual consistency.

Brand Development

  • Contribute to the evolution and consistency of the brand identity across all channels.
  • Translate creative concepts into compelling visuals that communicate the brand’s voice and mission.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product, editorial, and leadership.
  • Interpret creative briefs and provide design solutions that meet business and editorial goals.
  • Present concepts and incorporate feedback effectively.

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from concept through final delivery.
  • Maintain organized project files and adhere to timelines and deadlines.

Quality & Performance

  • Deliver high-quality, detail-oriented work under tight deadlines.
  • Stay up to date with design trends, tools, and best practices to continuously improve output.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must have had formal training in design/art. Please don't apply if you are not a designer.
  • 4–5+ years of professional graphic design experience (agency, media, or in-house).
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD; After Effects a plus).
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating a range of digital, social, newsletter and branding work.
  • Excellent typography, layout, color and visual storytelling skills.
  • Ability to take initiative, manage time effectively and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Great attention to detail with strong spelling and grammar skills
  • Passion for unbiased journalism and understanding of the current media landscape.
  • Must provide a link to a current demo reel.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • The salary range for this position is $60,000-$75,000.
