🚀 ABOUT FATHOM

We think it’s insane that so many people and businesses rely on notes to remember and share insights from their meetings.

Notes are time-consuming and stressful to create while trying to hold a conversation. Even when done well, notes are a poor solution compared to hearing something first-hand.

We started Fathom to rid us all of the tyranny of note-taking, and people seem to really love what we've built so far:

🥇 #1 Highest Satisfaction Product of 2024 on G2

🔥 #1 Rated on G2 with 4,500+ reviews and a perfect 5/5 rating

🥇 #1 Product of the Day and #2 AI Product of the Year

🚀 Most installed AI meeting assistant on both the Zoom and HubSpot marketplaces

📈 We’re hitting usage and revenue records every week

We're growing incredibly quickly, so we're looking to grow our small but mighty fully remote team.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re hiring a Data Lead to help Fathom level up how we use data to make decisions across the company. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll work directly with data, mentor our data scientists, and partner with stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, and Product to shape a smart, scalable data org.

You’ll split your time between critical IC work (building dashboards, doing data analysis, fixing broken data pipelines, etc), a managing and mentoring the data team, and aligning with business leaders to drive the right priorities. This is a perfect fit for someone who can alternate between deep technical work and collaboration—with strong business intuition and a pragmatic mindset.

This role is fully remote and open to candidates willing to work on US time zones.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • By 30 Days:

    • Get up to speed on our key data models, pipelines, reporting, and infrastructure.

    • Set up structured, ongoing collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Product leaders to understand their priorities.

    • Build a strong working relationship with the existing data team.

  • By 90 Days:

    • With collaboration from other execs, uplevel our internal dashboards that each department relies on to pursue their goals.

    • Spearhead project to refresh our understanding of product signals that correlate with customer conversion, expansion and churn.

    • Coach and mentor existing data team members; identify gaps or resourcing needs.

    • Create a clear 6-month plan for major data infrastructure and analytics projects

  • By 6 Months:

    • Hired 1-2 new additions to the data team to fill whatever gaps you see fit

    • Have bandwidth for self-directed projects where the data team is proactively providing insights to other departments, especially Product (shifting from fully reactive to being partially proactive)

    • Finding data efficiencies and investing in opportunities to democratize access to data through self-serve tools for folks outside the data team

REQUIREMENTS

Hard Skills

  • Strong SQL and analytical modeling skills.

  • Strong product sense and ability to translate business and product problems into data solutions without being given specific instructions

  • Experience working with modern data stacks (we use BigQuery, DBT, Census, Fivetran, Hex, and Amplitude).

  • Experience working with ETL tools (we use DataFlow/DataStream) and debugging and fixing them when issues arise

  • Comfortable doing hands-on work: writing queries, reviewing dashboards, fixing data infrastructure, etc

  • Comfortable reading code in order to understand how data is being generated from production systems

  • Prior experience building or leading data teams at a SaaS company.

Soft Skills

  • A "nose for value". You instinctively focus the team’s energy on the most impactful work.

  • Strong business intuition. You understand how go-to-market teams work and what they need.

  • Clear and proactive communicator, able to set expectations with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Collaborative and open-minded, but not afraid to say no.

  • High sense of ownership. You make the machine run and flag what needs to be fixed before it breaks.

WHAT YOU'LL GET
  • The opportunity to define and lead the data strategy at a fast-growing company

  • A role that blends IC work, leadership, and cross-functional influence

  • A seat at the table during major company decisions

  • Competitive compensation and benefits

  • A collaborative and pragmatic team that values results over ceremony
