Director, HR Business Partner

We are looking for a multifaceted Director, HR Business Partner who will play a key role in the growth of our people and evolution of our culture as our business continues to expand and become more complex.
This person will be responsible for building and managing a team of HR Business Partners, advising our Executive Leadership Team on people and organizational opportunities, and evolving our HR programs & strategies to scale. They will be an inspiring leader and provide consultation regarding employee experience, the future of work, organizational design, workforce planning, talent development & performance management, employee relations, and M&As. Here are some ways you’ll make an impact!
- Grow, develop and inspire a team of HR Business Partners to support the needs of an evolving business and leadership team
- Advise business leaders on organizational and people-related strategies and help HRBPs operationalize across functional areas (e.g., performance management, rewards & recognition, conflict management, change management, separations, etc.)
- Establish a deep understanding of our values and mission and help to advise the evolution of our culture for a “virtual-first,” dispersed workforce
- Build, lead and iterate on HR programs that support strategic objectives and drive employee engagement & retention (e.g., Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Future of Work, Leadership Development)
- Provide strategic advisory and support execution on all matters related to future M&A opportunities & integrations and/or business expansion (e.g. new product lines, markets, etc.)
- Lead HRBPs through annual review process including competency-based performance calibrations, org planning, individual development plans, and compensation alignment
- Partner with People Operations & Recruiting teams related to employment branding, talent attraction and onboarding programs
- Utilize internal and external data to help inform guidance around people and organizational strategies
- Support Sr. Director of Human Resources and CFO/COO on any other people-related projects and initiatives
Are you our Director, HR Business Partner?
- Bachelor’s Degree, or related equivalent experience; PHR/SPHR/SHRM Certification is a plus
- 10+ years of dynamic HR experience with at least 7 years as an HR Business Partner
- Demonstrated ability leading a team with proven track record of hiring, developing and inspiring high performance teams
- Deep understanding of HR strategies & programs, including but not limited to: executive coaching, employee engagement, DEI, organizational design, compensation, workforce planning, policies & compliance, talent development
- Previous experience supporting a mission-based organization at critical stages of growth & expansion (e.g., pre-IPO, M&As, new market entry, etc.)
- Ability to drive organizational change through thought leadership, relationship building, and strong business acumen
- Proven success in a complex, fast paced, and geographically dispersed organization
- Self-starter who can build programs from the ground up and transform existing processes to meet the constantly evolving needs of the business
- Very professional and personable, able to build and maintain rapport across all levels of the organization
- A trusted advisor, comfortable giving and receiving feedback at the executive level
- Outstanding judgement and ability to balance the needs of the company, leaders and employees
- Unquestioned integrity and a confident presence to effectively solve sensitive employee issues
- Knowledge of federal, state and local employment laws and statutes
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid-remote/office environment and commute to our offices in Redwood City, CA as needed (must live within 50 miles)
