Director Learning and Development
Udemy is seeking a creative and passionate leader to join our world-class Learning & Development team. Our internal-facing team serves as the resident expert and partner to the business for learning and development, fostering a culture of feedback, continuous learning, and growth mindset for Udemy employees.
Reporting to the Vice President of Learning, this role is responsible for the execution and evaluation of highly effective learning programs for all employees, as well as the operations of our internal learning systems. Our ideal candidate is passionate about helping people learn and grow while developing and delivering L&D programs that engage employees and impact business results. You're excited about this opportunity because you will
- Oversee our current internal Learning and Development programs, leveraging our Udemy for Business platform and portfolio of instructor-led workshops
- Design and build additional programs addressing performance, skills, and/or behavior gaps; make recommendations; and provide solutions to improve business performance, increase retention, and develop leaders
- Use creativity, innovation, and marketing to engage employees in world-class learning experiences
- Partner with our People Partners, People Ops, and Recruiting teams to deliver integrated and collaborative learning and development programs that cross the entire employee lifecycle (from candidacy to alumni)
- Consult with management and coordinate learning and development objectives and activities with applicable internal stakeholders on a regular basis to ensure responsiveness to organizational needs
- Define quality metrics and leverage people analytics to drive priorities, measure outcomes and efficacy, and enable better decision-making
- Manage and engage a team, ensuring the team has a deep understanding of the business to enable a strategic yet pragmatic approach while delivering high-impact results
- Lead the optimization and ongoing management of our Workday LMS and Udemy for Business instances
- Partner with relevant stakeholders to execute on the UBelong/Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) priorities and leverage our existing learning initiatives to ensure a DEI lens is integrated in all our L&D processes and programs
Experience we're looking for
- 8+ years of experience in an L&D Management role
- Experience facilitating in-person and online training programs
- Knowledge of learning science and adult learning principles to develop effective and world-class learning experiences
- Expertise in instructional design, learning content development, content curation and program management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high emotional intelligence and executive presence
- Excellent presentation skills, including training design and delivery utilizing a variety of media
- Demonstrated ability to leverage metrics and analytics in learning programs to drive effectiveness and impact
- Expertise building and scaling learning initiatives in a high-growth, rapidly adapting environmentExperience working with existing programming and optimizing processes and systems
- Experience partnering with a People team through a Center of Excellence model
