ROLE OVERVIEW
We’re looking for an enthusiastic and talented leader with keen business acumen to join our growing People team. This role reports to our VP of People Operations and is a key member of the People Ops leadership team.
In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for the overall strategy and execution of Benchling’s global Total Rewards, including global compensation strategy and programs and benefits, retirement and wellness programs.
You’ll work in close partnership with our VP of People, our executive team, our recruiting team and people partners to develop these strategies.
We are a growing team of professionals who thrive wearing multiple hats and rolling up our sleeves to develop scalable programs.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
- Drive and evolve Benchling’s Total Rewards strategy and program.
- Lead functional long-term strategic planning and create practical, scalable and actionable plans that all stakeholders understand.
- Lead the total rewards planning processes and ensure significant risks and opportunities are articulated and guided.
- Provide expertise regarding the strategic design, implementation, communication, and administration of the company’s global compensation programs, including broad-based, sales, executive compensation, equity incentives, merit and promotions..
- Provide subject matter expertise and accurately interpret, counsel, communicate, and educate HR Business Partners, managers and executives on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretations, and job evaluations.
- Work with the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, in partnership with the VP of People, to proactively review executive compensation and recommend compensation structure and pay adjustments.
- Develop and drive Benchling’s global benefits strategy ensuring alignment to Benchling’s values. Prepare summary and findings and provide guidance on new or modified plans and employee benefit policies.
ABOUT YOU
- 8+ years demonstrated experience in total rewards, compensation, and benefits
- You have a deep passion for compensation strategy, planning, design, and implementation.
- Demonstrated compensation experience in broad-based pay, exposure to executive compensation, salary planning, market pricing, job evaluation, data analysis, research and cost modeling.
- Possess strong domain expertise in developing and evolving global compensation programs and strategies. Hands-on experience or strategic oversight of benefits, retirement and wellness programs are desired.
- Act as a trustworthy, collaborative partner to the functional leaders to drive total rewards strategies that engage and retain our best leaders and team members as we continue to grow.
- Build relationships across the business, ensuring stakeholders are kept informed of changes that impact their teams
- High comfort level in preparing and presenting analyses, materials and making recommendations to the senior leadership team and Compensation Committee.
- You’re capable of flying high and being a strategic player and have a strong detail-orientation, with a bias towards execution.
- Proven ability to manage priorities among multiple stakeholders and multitask or re-prioritize as needed in a high-velocity environment
- Successful track record leading compensation strategies for mid or later-stage, venture-backed startups is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
