Function of the role:

Reporting to the General Manager, the HR Generalist will oversee the general administrative & Human Resources function as well as culture and engagement activities of the San Francisco office. 

As the on-site Human Resource Generalist for the office, you will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including CA labor law compliance; benefits, pay & leave administration, and enforcing company policies and practices with support from the Human Resources team at the Boston headquarters.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • In-market Human Resource (HR) support including CA labor law compliance; performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies; orders new supplies as needed and maintains office equipment and provides clerical support (when needed) to assist staff with assigned administrative duties such as answering phones, sorting and distributing mail, and preparing documents.
  • Maintains electronic files; implements an efficient system for other staff to access files and records.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • In conjunction with Leyton US Human Resources team, conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs administrative and recordkeeping tasks related to staffing changes, which may include layoffs, resignations, terminations, and extended leaves of absence.
  • Assists with the administration of employee benefits, which may include collecting and submitting employee information and notice of change in status to health, dental, life, disability, and other insurance carriers or insurance brokers.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and/or conduct employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Conducts or assists with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.

 

Education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • At least 3-years of progressive human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR Certification preferred, CA Specialty certification a plus.

 

Physical requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

We are located in the heart of San Francisco's Financial District (FiDi)!The office is surrounded by many historic landmarks such as the Transamerica Pyramid and plenty of restaurants and bars! No car? No problem- our office is easily accessible traveling on bus, muni/Bart, and even ferryboat.
