At Standard Cognition, we’re rethinking the way retail works. We are enabling autonomous checkout for brick & mortar retailers with our AI-powered computer vision platform. Since launching in November 2017, Standard has contracts with multiple global retailers and is in the process of deploying our Standard Checkout solution across thousands of stores globally. We’re backed by some of Silicon Valley’s leading investors including CRV, Initialized, Draper Associates and YCombinator. We announced our Series B in July 2019.

Standard Cognition is a young organization, and as the needs of the organization change, you’ll constantly be faced with new challenges. You will support our growing People Team as an individual contributor to our growing employee base. You will work with our current HR, Operations, and Recruiting teams to balance a mix of reactive and proactive, deep-thinking responsibilities.

An ideal candidate for the Human Resources Generalist role demonstrates a high EQ and prioritizes the experience of our employees. You are flexible in your ability to work autonomously and in collaborative settings. We expect someone in this role to have varied responsibilities, so the ability to quickly context switch is ideal.

This is a Full Time role located onsite at our San Francisco office. 

What you'll do here:

  • Collect, track, and maintain employee data.
  • Employee on-boarding and off-boarding.
  • Fostering positive employee relations including inclusion practices.
  • Helping to mediate employee issues.
  • Embedding consistent HR practices to establish a solid foundation for growth.
  • Ensure legal compliance of HR state and federal regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required.
  • Work with the HR Director to become a source of information for our employees.

Who you are:

  • You have 3-5+ years of experience.
  • You’re highly organized and know details count.
  • You have a high EQ, and demonstrate empathy in your interactions.
  • You love lists, spreadsheets, and efficient tooling.
  • You have experience with an HRIS, ATS, and/or other employee systems of record.
  • You exercise good judgement in prioritizing tasks.
