Director, Payroll
About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Payroll Director who will own the entire payroll process, and partner closely with the People Team to ensure that processes and roles are aligned to support the company’s rapid growth. This person will also serve as a point of contact for all internal and external payroll inquiries.
This job cannot be performed remotely in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Manage full-cycle processing of US and Canadian payroll on a semi-monthly basis for 500+ employees.
- Manage partnership with ADP/Workday Professional Services to optimize system functionality and exploit opportunities for process automation.
- Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes and other deductions.
- Manage tax and benefits compliance and reporting with all Federal, State, and Local payroll compliance, including tax withholding, and garnishments.
- Manage the timecard submission and approval process and follow-up with managers on any timecard questions or issues.
- Identify recommendations to scale processes to enhance payroll operational efficiency including the design and implementation of internal controls and maintain payroll policies and procedures
- Answer employee questions regarding payroll and process payroll changes
- Coordinate standard and ad-hoc payroll reports as needed by various internal departments such as Finance, Accounting, Legal, Sales Operations and People.
To thrive in this role, you have
- A BA degree in Accounting or Finance, CPP certification a strong plus.
- 7-10+ years of payroll and benefits experience that includes a thorough understanding of administration and regulatory requirements of payroll processing and benefit plans.
- Experience around global payroll and multi-state US payroll with both exempt and non-exempt employees.
- Working knowledge of multi-state payroll processing best practices and procedures, relevant payroll-related standards, regulations, and other related requirements to process payroll timely and accurately.
- Strong analytical, communication (written and verbal) skills and attention to detail.
- Multi-tasking and time management skills, and an ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Adaptability, flexibility, and comfort with a changing work environment.
