The People Manager is responsible for managing human resources at our San Francisco headquarters, supporting teammates and leaders at all levels. As a critical member of our People team, the HR manager will be responsible for a wide range of programs and initiatives, including employee relations, performance management, learning and development, leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations.

THE JOB

  • Provide strategic and daily hands-on support to our core business teams in our San Francisco office, including Accounting and Finance, Creative & Content, Data, Marketing, Product Management & Engineering, Product Development & Design, Strategy & Operations, Supply Chain & Logistics
  • Deliver HR guidance and support across a breadth of areas including employee engagement, performance management, employee development, change management and succession planning
  • Partner with management to resolve employee relation issues; provide coaching, counseling and guidance to management and teammates; collaborate with legal counsel on issues as appropriate
  • Support learning and development strategies by owning and optimizing current training strategies, overseeing the continued learning program, developing and facilitating new training topics and managing vendor relationships to administer compliance-based and development-based training
  • Manage critical HR programs and initiatives, including:
    • Annual performance and development cycle
    • Leaves of absence and reasonable accommodation
    • 401k administration, non-discrimination testing
    • Compliance reporting and program management, including EEO-1 and SF HCSO
    • HR metrics and data, including employee retention and turnover
  • Manage SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) to help establish effective and efficient processes. Identify areas for improvement and innovation 
  • Support key projects and initiatives for the People and Recruiting teams, including talent management, compensation planning, diversity and inclusion, benefits administration and open enrollment

THE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 3 years of HR Generalist or management experience including employee relations and investigations, coaching/counseling, change management, performance management, learning and development, leave of absence, reasonable accommodation, etc
  • Knowledge of CA HR / Labor laws. Proactive in studying industry standards, emerging trends and compliance resulting from litigation or government oversight to effectively partner and best advise business partners and leadership
  • High EQ (emotional intelligence). Strong social awareness and relationship building. Effectively manages stressful situations, challenging conversations or conflict
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex HR projects, stakeholders and deliverables
  • Action-oriented. Highly adept at identifying priorities and driving towards resolution. Committed to follow-through and follow-up
  • Invested in the employee experience. Capable of understanding nuanced employee feedback and responding appropriately
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability. Previous start-up experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree and SHRM / PHR certification preferred
