Impact in this Role

We are looking for a 3-6 month contract HR Generalist to help support the needs of our team by driving an outstanding experience throughout the entire employee lifecycle. This role is critical as the team grows with an increased need for focus on employee experience, efficiency, and quality delivery.

The role reports to the Head of People.

 Traits of a successful partnership:

You’re collaborative – It is expected that you will partner with various departments to ensure organizational needs are met and to develop strategic programs.

You will serve as an advocate – In the role, you will solicit and listen to concerns, and take an active role in resolving problems. You will provide information, and/or facilitate discussions cross-functionally to obtain information about benefits, compensation, training, and other internal needs from key stakeholders.

You will be able to forge relationships with all levels of employees and provide positive impact – You will provide consultation & support to managers regarding employee relations issues and applicable company policies/employment laws. You will facilitate learning & development, retention strategies, succession planning, and career development in accordance with our mission and values.

 What You’ll Be Doing

1) Onboarding/Offboarding

  • Constantly iterate on our onboarding procedures to ensure we are always delivering a stellar experience for new hires
  • Provide 30/60/90 day support to new hires and HM’s so we can build out a support system that helps our new hires to work smarter not harder
  • Advocate for our people and culture
  • Help to define and deliver a human offboarding whether voluntary or involuntary
  • Establish security & safety-minded approaches across the organization
  • Ad hoc reporting as needed (weekly HR insights, staff dashboard)

2) Employee Relations

  • Conduct internal investigations and work with management on evaluations, discipline, terminations, documentation, advising, etc.
  • Advise management on employee issues & other people-related problems
  • Develop and conduct employee/management trainings

3) Risk Management/Compliance

  • Ensure policies comply with federal, state, and city law
  • Ensure policies are applied consistently. Coordinate updating the employee handbook & developing procedure manuals.
  • Work with Directors to ensure policies and procedures meet individual needs of programs
  • Work with our Head of PeopleOps to implement & administer immigration/visa protocols internally and in collaboration with external legal
  • Identify potential personnel risks and coordinate/develop possible solutions
  • Coordinate complex matters with attorneys & own HR compliance, including personnel record management
  • Oversee worker compensation 

4) Benefits/Perks

  • Oversee benefit administration
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate and cost effective benefit packages
  • Responsible for ensuring high quality customer service is provided to the agency.

 Desired Traits & Qualifications

  • Experience managing HR Systems (Reflektive, etc.), ADP Workforce Now administration a plus
  • Excellent communication
  • Customer service oriented. Our People are our greatest assets and internal customers. The PeopleOps teams’ main focus is to best serve our people and facilitate an amazing employee experience.
  • Self-directed. The ability to complete work in a timely manner without active supervision is paramount but similarly important is knowing when to ask for help.
  • Previous experience working in a high growth company, start-up environment preferred
  • 2-5 years experience working in start-up environment in an Operations or HR related role
  • SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
