About the Team

Caviar for Companies (now part of DoorDash) is changing the way businesses and employees order food from restaurants. We believe that everyone should have access to the best eateries in their city without any hassles. Every day our Catering Captains pick up supplies from our Inventory Hubs, then pick up food from restaurant partners and deliver catered meals to thousands of diners at some of the world’s hottest startups and well-known brands.

We're looking for someone to lead the charge on our efforts to create an inclusive and innovative work culture for part-time hourly workforce – our Captains. You will lead a team who manages every fact of the Captain employee experience – from streamlining recruiting, to optimizing learning and development, to ensuring Captains are incentivized appropriately and excited about their career progression. You will report directly to the National Operations Lead, who will look to you as a partner and thought leader to ensure we have the staff needed to help us grow quickly and sustainably across the nation.

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Attract, hire, and retain top-quality Captains - with an emphasis on learning, and career development
  • Educate, advise, and influence on organizational design, Captain development, Captain engagement and retention, performance criteria and measurement, talent reviews, and change management.
  • Proactively collaborate with cross-functional partners to develop and implement people strategies which support business success and foster employee engagement
  • Optimize the team and process for recruiting - including team structure, recruiting metrics, forecasting and acquisition strategy to support rapid expansion nationally
  • Develop, implement, and enforce employee policies that allow the company to scale effectively and efficiently

We’re excited about you because you have…

  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in HR/people operations with experience of a data-driven outlook. 2 years of managerial experience preferred
  • Background and expertise as an HR generalist while also having in-depth expertise in multiple HR specialties ( e.g. full-cycle recruiting experience, compensation, benefits, employee relations, learning and development, diversity and inclusion, employment law, HR systems )
  • High social and emotional intelligence - you truly enjoy mentoring team members and cultivating strong relationships with all types of people
  • Excellent knowledge of culture and HR best practices and industry standards
  • You can operate at a strategic level, but enjoy and getting into the nitty of tactical HR issues when needed
  • Bonus - experience working in fast-paced environments and helping organizations scale
  • Bonus - experience with hourly, part-time labor workforce
