Pocket Gems wants to build the greatest games and interactive entertainment in the world. That’s the mission our founders began with in an apartment above a pizza shop back in 2009 and we continue it today.

Pocket Gems has grown to over 250 people in San Francisco. With $155 million in backing from Sequoia Capital and Tencent, we’re constantly breaking new ground with graphically rich mobile games, fun new genres of mobile entertainment, and innovative technologies like our mobile-first Mantis Engine.

Our products have been downloaded over 325 million times by players around the world. Most recently, we’ve launched Wild Beyond, a fast-paced and strategic 3D combat game, Episode, a mobile storytelling network and platform, and War Dragons, a visually stunning 3D real-time strategy game.

As a summer Game Design Intern you’ll be working closely with a member of our Game Design team from our 3D studio to assist in the development of War Dragons, leaving the summer having made a tangible impact on the team while gaining technical and professional skills to set you up for future success! 

What You’ll Do:

• Join an experienced Game Designer on designing and implementing new game content for War Dragons
• Collaborate with team members to prototype new game gameplay features
• Help run playtests of new game elements and collaborate with developers on incorporating feedback into designs

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong intuition for good game mechanics and systems
• Excellent communication and problem solving skills
• Self-organized and self-motivated
• Avid gamer across multiple platforms 
• Strong understanding of Unity

Extra Gems For:

• Experience with version control systems such as Git or Perforce
• Experience with scripting in Google Sheets
• Experience with using Photoshop
