About the Role

As a Developer Advocate Intern for Open Initiatives you will work closely with Planet’s ‘Open Fellow’ to help advance key Planet initiatives around open standards (STAC, COGnumpy tiles), open data (disaster data, spacenet 7) and open source. You will focus on helping make it easier for everyone to have success with these projects.

A successful Developer Advocate at Planet loves connecting with and working to enable software developers, data scientists and geospatial professionals: equipping them for success and providing the resources they need to best take advantage of Planet’s platform & data.

What You Bring

  • A fresh perspective to learning about satellite imagery and sharing its power with the world
  • A passion for open source, open standards and open data
  • Curiosity about our planet, geospatial information and an interest in using space to help life on earth
  • Willingness to engage in proactive communication as a remote intern

You Should Have

  • Experience writing code; Javascript, Python & Jupyter Notebook familiarity a plus
  • Familiarity with git, GitHub and/or GitLab
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
