Welcome to Planet. We believe in using space to help life on Earth.

Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history. This constellation delivers an unprecedented dataset of empirical information via a revolutionary cloud-based platform to authoritative figures in commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. We are both a space company and data company all rolled into one.

Customers and users across the globe use Planet's data to develop new technologies, drive revenue, power research, and solve our world’s toughest obstacles.

As we control every component of hardware design, manufacturing, data processing, and software engineering, our office is a truly inspiring mix of experts from a variety of domains.

We have a people-centric approach toward culture and community and we strive to iterate in a way that puts our team members first and prepares our company for growth. Join Planet and be a part of our mission to change the way people see the world.

Planet is headquartered in San Francisco, California, Earth.

About the Role:

Planet’s data, products and services can help organizations in many different fields deliver measurable social and ecological benefits. For example, insights derived from our imagery can be used to help farmers improve their yields, while reducing their use of fertilizer, pesticides, water, and other inputs.  Likewise, they can be used to monitor deforestation, and enable more targeted efforts to reduce or eliminate it, and help monitor 14 of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, among many other worthwhile objectives.

How do we measure the impact of the use of our data - not in the abstract, but in the particular? The Impact team at Planet is seeking two Impact Measurement Interns to help us find out. You will help quantify the impact of Planet’s satellite imagery and products by interviewing and assessing sustainability outcomes of Planet customers, and collecting and analyzing the resulting data. A strong interest in measurement and evaluation is a must, as well as fluency with the principles of good data science, with a focus on quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, creative thinker, and a great communicator.

Impact You’ll Own:

  • Data collection, analysis and report of the social and ecological impacts of Planet customers related to their use of Planet’s data, products and services.
