About the Role:

Software Security Interns will work as members of  the software security team.  The software security team is a dedicated team that works across all of the product development teams and the Quality engineering team to assure the overall security of the Planet cloud platform.    The security team is responsible for a range of activities including penetration testing, evaluating security tools, writing security tools, reviewing product designs, auditing internal systems, and conducting developer security training.

Impact You’ll Own:

• Assist in the security assessment of the Planet’s web applications, and APIs
• Research and integrate various security analysis tools into Planet’s development environment
• Develop in-house tools used by the Security team
• Work with development and quality engineers to evaluate the product for security concerns.
• Document findings with details necessary for appropriate risk assessment and engineering prioritization

What You Bring:

• Familiarity with network and web application security concepts.
• Willingness to engage in proactive communication as a remote intern
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Familiarity with UNIX/Linux runtime environments and web application design patterns

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with git source control
• Experience working with bug tracking systems/ tools
• Python, shell, and JavaScript programming skills
