About the Role

As a Lead Data Analyst, you’ll be a key player in our data modernization effort, how we build and use data across the company. You’ll focus on developing well-structured, reliable data models in dbt and Databricks, specifically the gold and platinum layers of our medallion architecture.

This role sits at the intersection of analytics and engineering - ideal for someone who’s comfortable writing production-grade SQL, building modular dbt models, and shaping how data is organized for analysis. You’ll work closely with our Data Analytics team, Analytics Engineering, and business teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and ready for insight.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with the Analytics Engineering team to align silver-layer and develop gold and platinum layers in dbt
  • Build and document reusable, production-grade data assets to support analytics and reporting
  • Drive best practices in dbt development, including modularization, testing, and Git-based version control
  • Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure trustworthy datasets
  • Mentor analysts on SQL, dbt workflows, and data modeling best practices
  • Collaborate with key business partners (e.g., Product, Underwriting, Claims) to ensure analytical outputs meet needs

What We’re Looking For

  • 4–6+ years of experience in data analytics or analytics engineering, preferably within Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance or another data-rich industry
  • Expert-level SQL skills and hands-on experience building dbt projects (macros, testing, documentation, Jinja)
  • Familiarity with Databricks SQL or similar cloud data platforms
  • Strong understanding of medallion architecture and experience shaping gold/platinum data models
  • Experience with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and collaborative development using dbt Cloud or dbt Core
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality data models with minimal supervision
  • Solid communication skills and a willingness to partner with business teams when needed

Bonus Points For

  • Experience mentoring or leading analytics professionals
  • Familiarity with Hex or other data visualization tools
  • A passion for clean design, data modeling, and building maintainable systems

Location & Work Environment

This is a full-time, fully remote position. You can work from anywhere in the United States or choose to work from one of PURE Insurance’s office locations, including White Plains (NY), Warren (NJ), Chicago (IL), Boston (MA), Charleston (SC), Atlanta (GA), Fort Lauderdale (FL), Scottsdale (AZ), and San Diego (CA).

The base salary for this role can range from $120,000 to $140,000 based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience
