The Impact You’ll Make

Due to our exceptional growth and success, Nextdoor is seeking a commercial counsel to join our Counsel Team in San Francisco. The position will report to Nextdoor’s Senior Corporate Counsel and will focus on commercial legal matters, including reviewing and drafting commercial contracts (including adtech, partnership, and vendor agreements), assisting with regulatory, litigation, and compliance matters, and supporting the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and processes. She or he will regularly interface with internal business and leadership teams around the world and will work collaboratively with the Counsel Team to support internal Nextdoor communities. 

You should be excited to bring your experience and expertise every day in order to: 

  • Provide advice and counsel in commercial transactions 
  • Negotiate, write and review agreements and contracts
  • Support internal clients through the art of deal making and contracting 
  • Establish and promote a collaborative partnership with internal clients
  • Research and review issues related to doing business in foreign jurisdictions, and update contracts, processes and legal positions accordingly 
  • Help lead Nextdoor’s commercial contracting function, including being responsible for and maintaining our contract review playbook, contract forms maintenance, and improving our contracting process

What You’ll Bring to The House

  • Minimum 3-6 years’ experience in a law firm and/or in-house position
  • JD from a nationally recognized law school 
  • Licensed attorney in the State of California or elsewhere
  • Strong communication skills, and experience communicating and explaining complex legal issues to business partners
  • Ability to work on multiple projects, prioritize and organize workload
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to assess and manage risk
  • Comfortable in highly collaborative environment
  • Ability to easily network and build relationships with colleagues and internal clients
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills

Bonus Points

  • Understanding of online advertising, digital marketing and related technologies preferred
  • Experience with Insertion Orders and other advertising sales contracts
