About the Role

Crunchyroll is searching for a self-motivated, business-minded attorney for a role as Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs in its Legal Department. The position handles all manner of business and legal affairs for Crunchyroll, including both Crunchyroll and VRV VOD platforms. This position reports to the VP of Business and Legal Affairs.

Location: San Francisco

Our headquarters is located in downtown San Francisco, where our group of cross-functional experts assemble to create experiences for Crunchyroll and VRV’s passionate communities.

About You:

  • At least 3-7 years of related experience
  • Generalists with knowledge and proficiency with most of the following types of agreements: merchandising, marketing, events, advertising tech, sweepstakes, NDAs, vendor and service
  • Practical knowledge of the digital, TV and film industries preferred
  • Experience working in-house or at a top tier law firm providing in-house support for an entertainment, film, television or production company preferred
  • Juris Doctor and membership in good standing in at least one state bar is required.
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with strict attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and computer skills
  • A go-getter who thrives in a non-structured, high-volume, fast-paced environment and is not afraid to take initiative 
  • A fantastic sense of humor and the ability to take on whatever comes your way!

A day in the life of our Business & Legal Affairs Team:

  • Structure, draft and negotiate a wide variety of agreements, including those relating to: vendor contracts, NDAs, content distribution; marketing and advertising; events; sweepstakes; and merchandising
  • Partner closely with business leads and assume significant authority and accountability for outcomes
  • Handle compliance for content and intellectual property matters
  • Provide practical advice and solutions to internal business partners on all related legal matters
  • Create and maintain form templates (e.g. licensing agreements, distribution agreements, marketing agreements/IOs, sweepstakes in the US and globally) to ensure all legal documents remain consistent
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment including working in new and developing areas of the law, tempered by an appreciation of the associated complexity and risk
  • Willing to perform other matters both in and outside of area(s) of expertise
