Director and Associate General Counsel - Intellectual Property

Coinbase is leading the expansion of digital currency into the financial mainstream. Our Litigation and Dispute Prevention team is building a new Intellectual Property . We are seeking an experienced Director and Associate General Counsel of Intellectual Property who can manage all aspects of Coinbase’s global IP strategy.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Manage global IP strategy for Coinbase, including in particular trademarks, patents, and trade secrets
- Manage various strategic litigations for Coinbase across a range of practice areas, including financial regulatory enforcement
- Manage growing IP team
- Collaborate on IP initiatives with other members of the crypto industry
- Develop, execute, and continuously assess Coinbase world-wide litigation strategy and tactics
- Engage and manage outside counsel to effectively and efficiently represent Coinbase.
- Work collegially and supportively with other members of legal team
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Ten or more years of IP experience, including a combination of:
- Experience advising business leaders on IP risks and implications
- Experience successfully managing and resolving IP litigation
- Experience with crypto industry IP and crypto technology
- Experience managing team members
- Willing to tackle tasks large or small
- Organized and detailed oriented
- Juris doctor from accredited law school
- Member of a US state bar in good standing
