Employment Counsel
About the role
We are hiring an Employment Counsel on our growing Legal team based in San Francisco. As our Employment Counsel you bring deep expertise in employment law and will be the point person for managing complex employment matters. You have outstanding professional judgment and excellent communication, interpersonal and drafting skills. You have an ability to anticipate and deliver on the needs of a dynamic and creative company, are eager to work with cross-functional teams, have the flexibility to manage a wide range of projects with a wide variety of people, and are comfortable advising senior business leaders.
This job cannot be performed in the state of Colorado.
In this role, you can expect to
- Serve as an advisor to the People team by providing employment law advice and strategy
- Partner with leaders across the company on a broad range of projects, including benefits, compensation, diversity & inclusion, and incident responses
- Advise the People team on crucial matters, including terminations and investigations
- Educate and advise management and business partners on employment issues and risks, and develop and coordinate company trainings
- Prepare templates, policies and processes to comply with employment laws and regulations
- Assist in handling all phases of litigation and pre-litigation employment disputes, including coordinating case strategy, discovery, briefs, internal investigations, interviews, witness preparation and negotiations with third parties
To thrive in this role, you have
- J.D. degree from an ABA accredited university
- Member in good standing of a state Bar
- 5+ years of relevant employment experience in a law firm or in-house legal department, including both counseling and litigation
- Substantive knowledge of employment law
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, outstanding business judgment, and provide strategic and practical advice by balancing legal risk and business objectives
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle ambiguity and balance many matters at once and quickly shift from one task to another
- No job is too big or too small!
